Lifestyle photography gets me excited. My biggest source of inspiration as a photographer is real life. Candid moments. The simple everyday. As a new mom, I am realizing that while props and outfits and creative sessions are fun, it's the daily routine, the tiny details, the sweet everyday moments that I want to capture the most and remember always. The way my girl sits quietly in her room every morning and plays with her toys. Her rosy cheeks and long eyelashes when she's asleep. The way she gets bubbles on her face in the tub and berries on her cheeks at lunch time. I want to remember the way her little hands have discovered how to turn the pages of a book and the way her little teeth peek through those rosy lips when she smiles her biggest smile. I would love to have a photographer come into my home sometime and do a lifestyle session with my entire family, but for now, I did a mini lifestyle shoot with just my girl recently, and I will treasure these photos forever. On an unseasonably warm (and snow-free) Winter's afternoon, I noted the 8 degree (Celsius) weather, the lovely golden pre-sunset light and my happy 6 1/2 month old and made a spontaneous decision to grab my daughter, my vintage beverage crate, some blankets, my camera and head to a nearby field for a spur of the moment session. I just love the golden-pink haze that colours these photos, and the old crate set against a field is quite a winning combination, if you ask me! I love having my own little model for these spontaneous photo shoots. Thanks for humouring me, Neve. :)

Just over a year ago, I headed to the Arva Flour Mill with Evan and Melissa for a fun couple session. This past December, we had a blast taking maternity photos in Pinafore Park, less than a month before baby Teagan was born. It was such a pleasure for me to photograph this sweet little boy. This little guy is such a sweetie. I remember photographing his family when his mama was pregnant with his older brother - it's so nice to work with a family over time and see them grow! Baby Noah definitely made himself comfortable and insisted on stretching his little legs straight out every time we tried to tuck them in. His little personality is already starting to shine through!
