I met up with Julia and JP’s family, as well as Julia’s parents and sister, for a beautiful Spring blossom extended family session. It was a chilly May morning, but the magnolia blossoms were in full bloom. Here are a few favourites from their Springbank Park session.
London Ontario Photographer | 2019 Spring Blossom Minis
Ahhh, Spring Blossoms. The thing we photographers look forward to and dread, fawn over and despise. We love them, they are gorgeous and make for the dreamiest backdrop. They are also fickle, unpredictable, fragile and in high demand (picture 5 photographers huddling around the same Magnolia tree). But at the end of the day, we just can’t get enough of these beautiful blooms.
Today I’m looking back on last year’s Spring Minis, which coincided with the Magnolia blooms. (They don’t always, sometimes our date coincides with crabapple blossoms or redbuds - also gorgeous!)
I’ll be emailing everyone on my Mini Session Advance Notice List this afternoon (to get on the list, email sophie@rawfootagephotos.com, subject line: Mini Session Advance Notice) with info on the upcoming 2020 Spring Minis. Once the advance notice list gets first dibs, any remaining spots will be released over on the booking page until they are sold out.
It might be -15 degrees and snowy outside today, but Spring is right around the corner, pals! :)
London Ontario Family Photographer | Spring Blossom Mini Sessions
Booking for this year’s Spring Minis opened up this week and they are just about sold out! We can never predict what specific blossoms will be in bloom at any specific time, so it makes each year a little bit different. I always like to reminisce about the previous year’s minis on the blog during booking week, so here are some favourites from my 2018 blossom mini sessions.
Best of 2018 Family Sessions | London Ontario Family Photographer
I wish you could have seen me putting this blog post together. First of all, it took a very long time. But most importantly, I smiled from ear to ear the entire time. So many beautiful families. So many favourites. So many. Some obvious ones that I previewed on social media and were stand-out favourites from the very beginning, and some that I had completely forgotten about, that for some reason didn’t really grab me during the editing process but made my heart sing during this yearly review.
As always, I feel the need to point out that my initial selection was so large it was ridiculous. In fact, one might argue that this selection is ridiculously lengthy. But I can only narrow them down so much, ya know? At the end of the day, whether a session appears in this compilation or not, I am so eternally grateful to each family that trusted me with capturing their memories - some for the first time in 2018, and some for the 8th time. It sounds so cliche, and we photographers like to throw around phrases like “I want to tell your story” and “capture your milestones” and “document your real life”… but it’s the truth. It’s why I do what I do.
Looking through all of these images made me so excited about the upcoming shooting season. For now though, I’m still reminiscing about the incredible year that was 2018. Here are some favourites!
London Ontario Maternity Photographer | Leah's Magnolia Blossom Maternity Session
My friend Leah is one of those people who, if you can believe it, is even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. Here are a few favourites from her Magnolia Tree maternity session back in Spring 2017 (yes, that’s where I’m up to in my blogging. Oops!). Scroll to the bottom to see what we did when it got dark!
